Assistant Manager
/ Shift Manager
The Assistant
Manager must be enthusiastic about retailing. This enthusiastic attitude
must be reflected in all aspects of an
Assistant Manager’s
performance. The Assistant Manager is responsible to work with the
Store Manager to maximize Sales and Profits of their store. Through
leadership and supervision, the Assistant Manager will be responsible
for the proper coverage of the store during operating hours, the management
and coordination of the operations of their store, and to have knowledge
of all aspects of retailing. He/She will consistently provide our customers
with the highest level of service possible and assist the Store Manager
in achieving budgeted revenue and expense goals.
An Assistant Manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited
to
the following:

Instill in employees the meaning and importance of customer service
-
Promote and monitor quality service among staff through training
and by acting as a positive role model
-
Assist the Store Manager in formulating the annual business plan
-
Maintain staff awareness of sales goals
-
Assist in protecting Company assets through promoting awareness
of Loss Prevention
-
Maintain a clean and well organized work area
-
Assist in by scheduling and overseeing the inventory process in
the store
-
Inspire employee so that each person contributes to the productivity
of the store
-
Motivate and develop staff
-
Oversee new hire training for new employees
-
Support
an “open door” policy where
employees are free to express their concerns and feelings without
fear of retribution
or ill will
-
Ensure that the store is in compliance with all employment, state
and federal laws, including wage and hour, human rights, and equal
employment opportunities
-
Maintain safe working conditions for employees and customers; resolve
safety concerns quickly

Sales
Associate
The Sales Associate must possess a friendly demeanor. Smiling is second nature.
Working hard and team play are kept consistent with the Sales Associate’s
interest of the retail environment.
A Sales Associate's responsibilities include but are not limited to the
following; -
Provides all customers with prompt and courteous service
-
Knowledgeable
about merchandise, and offers recommendations to customers

Frequently
engages in cashiering, stocking merchandise and supplies, inventory,
cleaning, and merchandising
-
Assists team members in maintaining a
ready-for-business store appearance at all times

Customer
Service Associates
The Customer
Service Associate must possess a friendly demeanor and have the
ability to solicit
and increase sales by using various suggestive selling
techniques,
e.g. multiple quantity and companion item upgrades, superior quality upgrade,
product information, and product sampling. Smiling and approaching customers
is second nature. Most Customer Service Associates are bilingual and are
able to accommodate the diversity of languages spoken by our customers.
Working
hard and team play are kept consistent with the Customer Service
Associate’s
interest of the retail environment.
The Customer Service Associate provides all customers with prompt and courteous
service, is knowledgeable about merchandise, and offers recommendations to
customers. He/She spends 90% or more of his or her time interacting with
customers, i.e.
familiarizing customers with our merchandise, giving product information,
suggesting additional merchandise to purchase based on the customer’s
needs and wants, and being an Ambassador of ABC Stores who encourages
return visits.
Qualification for all positions: -
Excellent communication skills
-
Be able to read, understand, speak,
and write the English language
-
Comprehension and knowledge in basic
math calculations
-
Perform arithmetic functions, including percentages
and decimals
-
Ability to utilize cash register after training
-
Be able to read
and understand instructions
-
Visual clarity and eye-hand coordination
-
Be able to lift up to
30 pounds
-
Be able to stock shelves and coolers
-
College education or previous
management experience recommended for Assistant Management positions
